Every morning Roberto and his father embark on a one hour commute from Lompoc to Santa Barbara so that Roberto can attend the Special Education class at McKinley School while his father goes to work.
Easy Lift met Roberto when SBUSD referred him because they were not able to provide transportation to and from school every day. One year has become five and we’ve seen Roberto go from using a booster seat in the backseat to being able to sit in the front seat with the drivers.
Although hearing impaired, he plays the trumpet and always boards the van with a request for his favorite radio station. Roberto and his father are an inspiring pair and have sacrificed so much to ensure each others’ wellbeing.
